Cheese and Fruit

One of my favorite afternoon high protein, low Calorie, and high fiber snacks is to have either a medium apple or jicama sticks with a one ounce piece of low-fat cheese.  It’s a satisfying snack.


Ingredients:

  • 1 medium apple of ¾ cups of jicama sticks, cut in ½ inch sticks
  • 1 ounce of your favorite 2% low-fat cheese (I like sharp chedder)


INSTRUCTIONS


Apple and Cheese:  Serving size: 1 medium size apple and 1 ounce cheese. Nutrition content: 150 Calories, 6g fat, 7g protein, 23g carbohydrates, 5g fiber, 230mg sodium. 

Jicama Sticks and Cheese: Serving size: 1.  Nutrition content:  105 Calories, 6g fat, 8g protein, 8g carbohydrates, 6g fiber, 235mg sodium.
